Your Building’s Warranty
Every steel building we install includes warranty documentation from the material manufacturer. Here’s what’s covered, what’s not, and how to file a claim.
Limited Lifetime Paint Warranty
The painted finish on your 29-gauge steel roofing and sidewall panels is covered by a Limited Lifetime Paint Warranty from the material manufacturer. This warranty covers the paint coating applied to the panels, trims, and flashings used in your building.
What’s Covered
- Paint will not crack, check, or peel (lose adhesion)
- Paint will not fade beyond specified thresholds under normal conditions
- Paint will not chalk beyond specified thresholds under normal conditions
- Panels will not perforate due to accumulation and deterioration of red rust during the warranty term
Microscopic crazing of the paint film is considered normal and is not a defect under this warranty. This is not to be confused with cracking of the film.
What’s Not Covered
The warranty does not apply to damage or deterioration caused by:
- Physical damage from abuse, misuse, negligence, vandalism, or excessive foot traffic on the roof
- Deterioration of finish due to improper installation or improper storage before installation
- Damage from acts of God, falling objects, external forces, explosion, fire, riots, civil commotion, acts of war, excessive radiation, or similar occurrences beyond the manufacturer’s control
- Steel shavings or iron particles that come into contact with the painted surface
- Roof sections or slopes that do not allow proper drainage
- Materials installed or stored in corrosive or aggressive environments — including marine conditions, chemical and foreign substances in the air or atmosphere, animal waste, decaying materials, wet absorptive materials, internal contamination from improper ventilation, or harmful gases (with the exception of normal air pollution)
- Buildings located within 1,000 meters of salt water
- Failures resulting from edge corrosion
How to File a Warranty Claim
If you believe your panels have a defect covered by the warranty, the process is:
- Notify the manufacturer in writing within 30 days of discovering the condition
- Allow a minimum of 60 days for the manufacturer to inspect the materials during normal business hours
- Provide records establishing the sale date, order number, date of installation, and dealer name (Greg Builds / Kirkmont LLC)
Upon a valid claim, the manufacturer may repaint, replace, or refund the purchase price of the defective material — at the manufacturer’s sole discretion. The manufacturer is not liable for labor costs to remove defective material or install replacement material, and is not liable for any consequential, incidental, indirect, or special damages.
Additional Terms
- Color variations may exist between material manufactured at different times. If an exact color match is unavailable, the manufacturer reserves the right to replace defective material with an item of similar design and color.
- The warranty on any replaced or repaired material runs for the remainder of the original warranty period, not a new full term.
- This warranty is not transferable or assignable. It covers the original purchaser only.
